New student taxes web site launched

Gail Perry, a CPA based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has launched a new web site, www.CampusTaxes.com - dedicated to helping students file their income tax returns online. 

Not only does www.CampusTaxes.com provide online tax filing for U.S. income tax returns and all state income tax returns, the site provides a Q&A section where students can ask questions of Ms. Perry and see answers to other questions commonly asked by student taxpayers.

IRS Grants Six-Month Filing, Payment Extension Following Virginia Tech Shooting

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today granted a six-month tax filing and payment extension to those affected by the shootings Monday at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Va. This relief applies to the victims, their families, emergency responders and university students and employees

WASHINGTON — Taxpayers affected by the major storm that hit the Northeastern United States April 16 now have until Thursday, April 26 to file their tax returns, the Internal Revenue Service said today.

IRS Completes Taxpayer Assistance Blueprint

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service announced it has submitted to Congress the completed Taxpayer Assistance Blueprint. The Blueprint is the joint response of the IRS, the IRS Oversight Board and the National Taxpayer Advocate to a congressional mandate for the development of a five-year plan for the delivery of taxpayer service.

2005 bankruptcy law opens door to new client services  Earlier this fall, the Congress passed massive legislation that changed the nature of bankruptcy proceedings for both individuals and corporations. The dust is just beginning to settle on the new bankruptcy rules, but already some opportunities for financial professionals have surfaced.

New IRS regs make second extension requests obsolete  Until now, individual taxpayers who were unable to meet the April 15 tax return filing deadline could file a Form 4868 and receive an automatic four-month filing extension until August 15. And if August 15 didn't provide enough time to get the tax return completed, taxpayers could provide a good reason for the delay on a Form 2688 and request another extension for two months until October 15.

Data warehousing: The next generation of usage  One of the most interesting developments in the computer technology arena is the concept of the data warehouse - a group of technologies that communicate with all of the data sources, pull all of the information from those sources together, and allow the user to create a query that accesses all of the information at once.
